MANALAPAN - The family of a special-needs student from Manalapan is outraged after they say he was abandoned aboard a school bus in the hot sun for hours. Angelo Silecchia, 20, can't speak and is in a wheelchair after suffering a severe brain injury. His family says yesterday morning he was picked up on a Kinder Glide bus and taken to Children's Center of Monmouth County in Neptune, where he sat in the parking lot until 1 p.m. when he was discovered. Cristina Dinatale, the student's mother, says she is furious that she had to call police herself to report the incident and says the school didn't even tell her it happened until 9 p.m. last night. "I could imagine my son hysterical crying for five hours on that bus and nobody attended to him," she says. One of the owners of Kinder Glide says both employees, the bus driver and the paraprofessional, are suspended pending further disciplinary action.

Neptune police are investigating.
