ELIZABETH - The family of Anthony Holmes held a candlelight vigil in his honor Friday night, marking the first anniversary of the day he was gunned down in a hail of bullets.

Holmes was 21 years old when he was shot nine times. He left behind a 5-month-old son.

Holmes' mother, Phoebe Holmes, says the family is trying to keep Anthony's memory alive. "We're just looking for justice for him," she says. "We don't want any other family to go through what we're going through right now."

The alleged gunman fled to Egypt on an expired passport 10 days after the shooting.

The People's Organization for Progress is now stepping in and researching extradition treaties, and working to set up a meeting with the U.S. ambassador to Egypt and New Jersey officials.
