Family of Lateisha Townes, shot and killed in Newark, protest violence against women

Newark residents held a rally Wednesday to honor

Newark residents held a rally Wednesday to honor Lateisha Townes, who was shot and killed in May.

NEWARK - Friends and family of Lateshia Townes gathered Wednesday evening at the scene of where she was shot two months ago.
Townes, a mother of an 11-year-old girl, was shot and killed after a car accident in Newark on May 31.  It is still not known if she was targeted or caught in crossfire.
Her family brought the car she was driving that day to the rally. It is still full of bullet holes.
Protesters say they're worried about the amount of violence directed toward women this summer. In addition to Townes' shooting, Cheyenne Bond, 17, was gunned down just three blocks away in June.
There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the Townes case.
