Family mourns loss of 13-year-old boy

NEWARK - A family is mourning the loss of their 13-year-old son, Dante Young, after he gunned down on the streets of Newark Sunday night.

Police say the teenager, believe to be the intended target, was shot multiple times after an argument at around 11:30 p.m. A teddy bear is now part of the memorial at the shooting scene.

Young's aunt, Latifah Ali, tells News 12 New Jersey that he was shot five times in his torso.

Many in the community say that between the end of school and the start of summer programs, there isn't enough for young people to do. Others argue that even if structured activities were available, some kids wouldn't take part.
