Family demands answers after 21-year-old mother is shot, killed

NEW BRUNSWICK - Family and friends are searching for answers after a 21-year-old mother was shot and killed outside a Middlesex County nightclub.

Jessica Torres, the mother of a 2-year-old boy named Jerimiah, was shot and killed early Saturday morning on Hale Street in New Brunswick.

Neighbors tell News 12 New Jersey that the incident occurred outside the Progressive Lodge, a social club that is rented out as a bar on the weekends.

Police have not yet released any information on the shooting. Repeated calls to the prosecutor's office have gone unreturned.

It is unclear whether Torres was ever inside the club.
