SOUTH PLAINFIELD - Officials evacuated students from the South Plainfield High School yesterday after authorities discovered replica airsoft weapons in a student's locker.

The incident was the second time in two days that authorities were called in to investigate a suspicious package at the Lake Avenue school.

The 15-year-old male whose locker was searched was reportedly taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct. A 17-year-old boy was also detained and taken into custody.

Bomb squad members were reportedly called to the high school on Monday after workers discovered a suspicious package near the athletic field. Officers determined the package contained commercial fireworks.

Parents of students at the school tell News 12 New Jersey they are unhappy with how information was released regarding the incident.
