RIDGEWOOD - Fairview Police Chief Frank DelVecchio honored the memories of Sept. 11 victims today with a 25-mile run from Ridgewood to the Freedom Tower in downtown Manhattan.

His journey began this morning around 9 a.m. in Ridgewood, a town that lost 12 residents on Sept. 11. In all, he ran 25.6 miles in 5 hours and 5 minutes.

The "Remembrance Run" raises money for Tuesday's Children, a non-profit organization that supports the children and families directly impacted by the Sept. 11 attacks.

"On this 11th anniversary, we wanted to do something more than just remembering by taking action and hopefully inspiring others," said DelVecchio.

The police chief has raised $8,600, not far from his goal of raising $10,000 for Sept. 11 victims.
