FAIR HAVEN - Every corner in the historic downtown of Fair Haven has a pedestrian sign, as well as a warning sign for the pedestrian sign, which drivers complain is redundant.

Mayor Michael Halfacre (R-Fair Haven) says the signs are so unsightly that he's asking Monmouth County to remove them. He is among several local officials who agree fewer signs can have a greater impact, while maintaining the character of the communities.

There have also been similar complaints in Brick Township.
