NEWARK - A grant donated by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg may soon face some deterrents based on what was said during the announcement of the donation on "Oprah."

Two weeks ago, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Gov. Chris Christie and Zuckerberg appeared on "Oprah" to discuss a $100 million donation from Facebook to the Newark Public Schools.

During the announcement, they said the governor and the mayor would lead the effort to reform Newark's schools.Acting Commissioner of Education Rochelle Hendricks, however, testified Tuesday that state law prohibits mayors and governors from taking an active role in school district reforms. The law says that responsibility lies with the commissioner of education.
