NEWARK - A fiery explosion destroyed a home last night on Hazelwood Avenue in Newark.

Authorities say the explosion was caused by some chemicals that were stored inside the home. Newark fire officials did not identify the chemicals, but did say they were not allowed to be stored inside a residential home.

Neighbors in the area say they were shaken by the loud explosion. "I had heard a loud boom noise, which prompted me to look out the window," said Hasani Carter, a nearby resident. "When I looked out the window, I saw a large bright sky, lit up in flames."

One person was injured as a result of the blast. Fire officials say they are investigating the incident.
