EDISON - A retired police chief is giving his opinion on a controversial video that allegedly shows New Brunswick police using excess force to subdue a Rutgers University student.
Michael Paquette, who also teaches criminal justice, says the recording doesn't tell the whole story, but that he doesn't see anything excessive about the officer's actions.
Paquette showed News 12 New Jersey other videos where it's questionable if excessive force is used. He says the videos can tell a different story depending on the angle of the recording.
Internal Affairs investigators are reviewing the New Brunswick tape, along with video from police cruisers to see whether proper force was used in the Rutgers case.
