EWING - Ewing's newly elected mayor will introduce a new budget during a Town Council meeting tomorrow.

Mayor Bert Steinmann says the current tax rate leaves Ewing with a huge budget gap. To make up the difference, officials say they're proposing a 30-percent property tax increase.

Officials say that if the tax increase isn't passed, layoffs and privatizing some public services may be required.

Steinmann told News 12 New Jersey by phone that Ewing had put off some payments that it must make for this year.

Since the budget is only being introduced, public comment will not be allowed at the meeting.
