HACKENSACK - Police say four Essex County men are facing felony murder charges tonight in the shooting death of a Fairview man.

Evens Dumas, Keshawn Malone, Blonson Florestal, and Jose Rivas were arrested in the murder of 50-year-old Jeronimo Lopez.

Lopez was killed in his apartment during a robbery just after 10 p.m. Saturday. Prosecutors say the victim was known to host illegal card games at his home, and it made him a target.

"This is something criminals look to target," says Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli. "Because often when there is a robbery of an illegal card game, we usually do not get complaints from the operators."

Prosecutors say one man stayed in the getaway car, and the other three entered the apartment armed with guns.

"The 11 people in the apartment were ordered to lie down on their front," says Molinelli. "They were ordered to give up jewelry, wallets, and any proceeds were removed by the individuals."

During the robbery, prosecutors say Dumas shot Lopez in the stomach.  He later died at the hospital.  Authorities say the men made off with $1,800 in cash.

Dumas is charged with first-degree murder. All four men are facing various charges, including felony murder, armed robbery, and armed burglary.
