WEST ORANGE - Preparations for Hurricane Sandy are being made in Essex County, which suffered flooding during Hurricane Irene.
The Codey Arena in West Orange will begin serving as an emergency shelter tonight. Newark is also opening a shelter at the John F. Kennedy Recreation Center.
Mayor Cory Booker says Newark is prepared for widespread flooding and is urging residents to stay off the roads.
