NORTH ARLINGTON - The husband of a woman found slain in North Arlington has been arrested and charged with her murder, according to Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir Grewal.

Police were called to the Riverview Gardens apartments Friday afternoon after receiving a request from a concerned person to check on the welfare of Luisa Pleger.

When police arrived, they found her body and arrested her husband Eric Pleger.

No details about the killing have been released. Investigators believe Luisa Pleger was dead for at least a day.

An autopsy will be performed to determine how Luisa Pleger died. Police say that there is no history of domestic violence calls to the couple’s apartment.

Eric Pleger is charged with murder and possession of a weapon. His bail was set at $2 million.

North Arlington Police Chief John Hearn tells News 12 New Jersey that this is the first homicide in North Arlington in 23 years.
