MADISON - A Madison emergency medical technician died Wednesday night while responding to an emergency call.

Officials say 83-year-old Dick Hanlon passed away after suffering from what they believe was cardiac arrest. They say Hanlon joined the Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps when, at 68 years old, he decided that he wanted to ride in an ambulance and save lives. Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps President Bob Landrigan told News 12 New Jersey that being an EMT is a passion that Hanlon had.

Services for Hanlon will be held Saturday with full honors. Ambulance crews from around the state will take part in the funeral procession.
