EMERSON - A nearly yearlong battle over an Emerson child's treehouse will continue for at least another 30 days.

Neighbor Joe Geronimo complained that the 12-by-12-foot wooden treehouse, built for Katie Tenebruso, is a monstrosity. He says he filed a complaint after asking the family to build the house on the ground.

A municipal judge gave the family 30 days to come up with a solution or risk having to tear it down. The structure cost $6,000 and includes a staircase, four Anderson windows, a deck and a bunk bed.

Katie's mother, Paula Tenebruso, has hired an attorney to try to avoid paying a $500 fine. The local buildings department says the treehouse exceeds local height standards.
