SEASIDE HEIGHTS - Officials have released radio calls between police and fire departments while they battled the massive boardwalk fire in Seaside Park and Seaside Heights.

The fire ripped through five blocks of the boardwalk a little more than two weeks ago. Firefighters spent hours battling the flames in an effort to save the boardwalk, however, more than 50 businesses were damaged or destroyed.

As smoke poured into the sky, first responders could tell the blaze would be hard to fight. "We're going to need more units, more fire departments here. I don't want to overstep my boundaries but it's rolling. I'm here with the chief of Seaside Park and myself. I think you better start heading out."

Several first responders can also be heard talking about the problem the windswept embers posed farther down the boardwalk. "We've got embers just north of the carousel. I just put them out with some sand but they're all over the place up here as well."

The community now waits for demolition to begin.
