HOBOKEN - The athletic director of a charter school in Hudson County is accused of decades of alleged sexual abuse.

An emergency meeting was called Tuesday at Elysian Charter School to talk about the charges facing 52-year-old John Mercado.

Late last week, he was charged with allegedly sexually abusing seven boys over the course of 30 years.

Prosecutors say he confessed to abusing at least four of the victims, the youngest of whom was 8 years old.

During the time of the alleged abuse, Mercado was a youth coach in Jersey City.
