ELMWOOD PARK - Police are warning dog owners in Elmwood Park to be careful after a small dog was attacked by a coyote.

There have been sightings of small packs of coyotes in several parts of town.
     
Police say there have been no reports of coyotes threatening people, but they are telling dog owners to keep their pets on a short leash when walking them.

"My yard is not fenced in," says Ron Moore. "So we supervise him when he's outside. That's what I'll continue to do. I'll also bring a flashlight when I walk him at night."
   
Elmwood Park police are not putting out traps at this time, but ask that anyone who sees a coyote call police or animal control right away.
