ELMWOOD PARK - Elmwood Park High School and Middle School was on lockdown for nearly six hours today.

Police say a voicemail left on a school guidance counselor's answering machine Wednesday night threatened harm to people at the school. When the counselor heard the message this morning, police were called and later ordered a lockdown.

Parents were sent messages informing them of the situation, and despite being asked not to come to the school, many did.

Officials say nothing in the threat indicated there was a weapon in the school, but as a precaution, a full search was conducted. Students were kept inside their classrooms all day.

The call has been traced to a specific number and address, but police have not yet made any arrests.
