JACKSON TOWNSHIP - Students have returned to the Elms Elementary School in Jackson Township after they were relocated because a practice grenade was discovered in a student's backpack.
The school's website says the backpack was left in the parking lot. Students in the extended school year program were moved to the nearby Goetz Middle School while police investigated.
Police reportedly talked to the student and the student's parents and learned the harmless item was purchased at a flea market.
The State Police bomb squad inspected it.
The students were temporarily evacuated to nearby Goetz Middle School for about 90 minutes.
