ASBURY PARK - A father is speaking out against crime in Asbury Park as the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office is calling for greater action from the police.
Elexander Fitzgerald lost his son Daniel Graves nine months ago when Graves was shot and killed at the corner of Bangs and Dewitt avenues.
Police are making a wave of arrests in Asbury Park as a crackdown on drugs and violence continues.
Police worked with the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office to conduct a massive sweep from early August to Sept. 16. They made 101 arrests, most of them on drug charges. Officers also seized 11 handguns.
Fitzgerald spoke to News 12 about his take on the recent crime initiative. He says he's thankful for the prosecutor's office being thorough with its investigation. He adds that crime sweeps aren't enough and the community needs to speak out.
The prosecutor says he hopes people living in the area that was targeted will cooperate with his office to help solve cases.
