NEWARK - Residents of a 15-story building in Newark say elevator service in the high-rise has been intermittent for months, and it's taking it's toll on those who struggle on the stairs.

There are two elevators at Ivy Hill, neighbors say. One is completely broken and the other works ocassionally.

It's especially difficult for pregnant woman and the elderly, who are often forced to take the stairs.

George Sattari, with Eli-Tech Elevator Repair says there was a voltage spike more than a month ago that damaged the elevator control board. Repairs were made, but three weeks ago, the elevator suffered from a malfunction. It was then programmed to only stop at certain floors.

Sattari says county inspectors were at the building Wednesday morning where they completed work on the elevator. He says service will be back to normal by Thursday morning.
