GUTTENBERG - An elevator repair worker died after becoming entangled between the elevator door and top portion of the elevator car and then dragged upward in the Galaxy condos in Guttenberg.

The worker was fixing an elevator in tower two. Residents say they were later alerted to an elevator malfunction.

"I woke up to like an announcement this morning from my bed saying that the elevators were shut down for a non-fire emergency," says resident Ryan Forman.

The worker was employed by Slade Elevator, with an office in Mountainside. OSHA says it has never investigated the company before for a job-related accident.

The name of the worker killed has not been released.
