Elderly Newark man clings to life after attack

NEWARK - A month after being brutally attacked in his home, a 77-year-old man has taken a turn for the worst, his family says.

Hezekiah Dixon's family gathered around him at a hospital tonight as he clings to life.

Dixon's family say he was beaten, tied up and left for dead in his apartment at Foushee Towers. They say Dixon's life is truly on the line, and they hope his assailant will be arrested.

Foushee Towers is 250-unit public housing complex for elderly and disabled tenants. Newark police say they've been looking into the assault, but couldn't comment further on an open investigation.
