EDISON - Students from the fire-damaged James Monroe Elementary School will have a new home for the next school year.

The Diocese of Metuchen decided to allow the Edison School District to use St. Cecelia's Elementary School. The Diocese will allow the district to lease St. Cecelia's for free until 2016.

St. Cecelia's was established in 1952 but was closed in 2012 by the Diocese of Metuchen. The school will be able to hold 1,100 students.

The district will spend the next few months fixing up St. Cecelia's so it will be ready for the 2014-2015 school year. Repair costs will be covered by the district's insurance.

Demolition of James Monroe Elementary will begin on April 25.
