Edgewater man pleads not guilty to manslaughter (2/2/16)

EDGEWATER - The son of a former aide to the wife of New York Mayor Bill de Blasio pleaded not guilty today in a fatal Edgewater stabbing.

Khari Noerdlinger is charged with aggravated manslaughter and other offenses.

Prosecutors say Noerdlinger stabbed and killed 16-year-old Savion Lewallen as the teen and a group of people tried to rob him. Lewallen's alleged co-conspirators also pleaded not guilty.

Police say the assailant and four of his friends came to Edgewater from Rockland County in New York to commit robbery. They say Noerdlinger fought back, stabbed Lewallen and tried to get rid of evidence with others.

Lewallen was brought to Palisades Medical Center with stab wounds. He died a short time later.
