EATONTOWN - A Monmouth County town is putting some former military equipment to good use.

Eatontown has been acquiring military surplus like Humvees, Broncos, and heavy duty tow trucks to help take care of needs within the town.

Some may need a paint job, but in the end it's saving the town hundreds of thousands of dollars because the items are free.

"These military vehicles were given to us by the federal government and we're utilizing them for different purposes in Eatontown," says Automotive Services Division Manager Larry Olivadoti. He says that includes snow plowing, traffic safety, and compost sites.

Olivadoti says they paint every vehicle either green and orange representing the borough, or black and white for Eatontown Police.

The process of acquiring these vehicles is as easy as filling out an application, and it costs the taxpayers nothing.
