EAST HANOVER - Authorities returned Wednesday to the scene of a fire where an East Hanover woman was found dead.

Investigators were called to Phyldan Road Monday night after firefighters found the body of 53-year-old Kim DeOliveira in a wooded area near her home.

The discovery was made after a shed fire was extinguished in her neighbor’s backyard. Steve Pezzino says it began around 3 a.m. Monday with three small fires that spread to his shed.

"I'm just running back and forth," Pezzino says, "furiously yelling for help for the neighbors to come out of the house and try to help me because I envisioned every house going up."

Firefighters responded and put out the fire, but it was hours later before Pezzino learned a body had been found.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office says DeOliveira, a wife and mother, died from fire-related injuries. The office is investigating her death.

After the fire was out, but before he knew someone had died, Pezzino says he spoke to the victim's husband, who told him his wife was missing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact East Hanover police at 973-887-0432 or the Morris County Prosecutor's Office at 973-285-6200.
