EAST BRUNSWICK - An East Brunsiwck woman has been charged with 63 counts of animal cruelty after authorities discovered her Shihtzus living in poor, flea-ridden conditions.

Ellen Shih was also issued 63 counts of failure to provide vet care, 58 counts of unlicensed dogs and 58 counts of no rabies inoculation by Helmetta Animal Control.

The dogs were signed over to animal control officers and taken to the Helmetta Animal Shelter for evaluation and treatment.

The dogs will be available for adoption at the Helmetta Animal Shelter located on Main Street in Helmetta.
