A teenage girl who lost her battle with a rare type of bone cancer has sparked a fundraising effort for a boy battling leukemia.

Martin Minchev, 11, of Clifton will be attending Christopher Columbus Middle School in September. In January 2011, he was diagnosed with leukemia. His treatments took him to a hospital in New York City, where he met Maria Kutyla.
