AVON-BY-THE-SEA - Drivers along the Jersey Shore have been urged to use extra caution when crossing the area's bridges, overpasses and elevated roadways.

Snow and ice built up on the road surfaces as a result of the winter storm hitting the region.

Parts of Route 35 in Wall appeared wet but were actually covered in black ice.

Conditions may worsen with dropping temperatures overnight.

Apart from the roads, many took the winter weather in stride. "I wasn't expecting it, but I love it," says Tara Maiolini, of Belmar. "I love the snow and why not? Before Christmas it makes it a little festive. Stay home with the kids and make Christmas cookies."
