Drivers face slippery road conditions

SAYREVILLE - Drivers faced slippery road conditions this morning as a storm bringing snow, sleet and ice moved across New Jersey.

New Jersey officials have activated the State Emergency Operations Center in West Trenton to coordinate the response to what's expected to be another messy winter storm.

Additional state police have been called in to help with problems on any icy roads.

A 50 mph speed restriction remains in place on the New Jersey Turnpike in both directions between Interchange 8 and the George Washington Bridge. Speed has been reduced to 45 mph south of Interchange 8.

News 12 New Jersey meteorologist James Gregorio says a second round of wintry precipitation could bring up to half an inch of ice by tomorrow morning, which could affect the morning commute.
