WEST NEW YORK - A community still mourning the death of 8-month-old Angelie Paredes is considering how the believed cause of the fatal accident will impact their own habits.

A jitney bus driver is believed to have been using his cellphone when he lost control of the vehicle, striking a light pole that fell on the infant and killed her.

Bus and car drivers can still be seen driving up and down JFK Boulevard with phones to their ears. Many tried to hide what they were doing when they were spotted.

One driver admitted to having used her phone behind the wheel, but told News 12 New Jersey that Angelie's death shows the calls and texts just aren't worth it.

"It is tempting, but after this incident, it hits home," says Angela Evertz, the mother of a 14-month-old girl.

Mourners continue to stop by a makeshift memorial at the accident scene to pay their respects. Many tell News 12 New Jersey they expect people to take notice of what happened on that spot.
