JACKSON - Dozens of tenants have been left without a place to live this morning after a fire tore through an 18-unit apartment building just off North County Line Road in Jackson.

The fire broke out just after 11 p.m. at an apartment building on Justin Way. Residents tell News 12 New Jersey the building became engulfed in flames in just seconds.

Authorities said an estimated 44 people were evacuated as a result of the fire. A Red Cross representative says all but two families have found places to stay, while the remaining were provided motel rooms. Town officials had also opened a nearby school early this morning as an emergency shelter.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
