Downed wire repaired on Northeast Corridor

SECAUCUS - (AP) - Delays are easing for rail riders on theNortheast Corridor between New York City and Philadelphia Friday.

Amtrak has repaired a wire that was down on one of two tracksover the Portal Bridge in New Jersey that crosses the HackensackRiver between Kearny and Secaucus.

Amtrak trains were running up to 30 minutes behind schedulebecause there was only one track available and trains mustalternate.

NJ Transit says Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Lineriders can expect some residual delays in and out of New York City.

Midtown Direct trains are going into New York after beingdiverted to and from Hoboken.
