LITTLE FALLS - The Department of Transportation has begun gearing up for what is expected to be the first blizzard of 2013.

Officials say 450 DOT plows and salt spreaders, 1,400 contractor snow plows and 200 contractor salt spreaders have been deployed throughout the state.

News 12 New Jersey meteorologist James Gregorio says that as much as 12 inches of snow is possible in the northwest portion of the state.
