EDISON - While schools around the Garden State have already started a new school year, the doors remain closed at the Franklin Township School in Hunterdon County.
Delays in a $9 million school renovation project are taking longer than expected due, primarily, to a failing sewer line. The district will not get the permits needed to open the building until repairs are made.
School officials hope to begin the academic year on Sept. 27. The district says it is also examining alternate plans if they cannot open the school on the target date.
