CLIFTON - As many businesses are seeing a decline in customers, dollar stores across New Jersey say business is booming.

Many people say they are turning to the stores to save money since cash is tight.

Pedro DeJesus and his wife Marlene were able to get eight bags of groceries for $38 by shopping at a dollar store. Something they say makes them feel empowered without going into debt to feed their family.
