WAYNE - Diwali celebrations began yesterday and will continue throughout the weekend around New Jersey.

Diwali, popularly known as the Hindu ?festival of lights,? is an important five-day festival occurring between mid-October and mid-November.

Most celebrate the festival by holding traditional ceremonies and activities, explained Bipin Shuklandia, executive committee president of the Cultural Society Hindu Temple & Mahatma Gandhi Center in Wayne.
