NEWARK - A disabled New Jersey Transit train caused delays in and out of New York City.

Train 3704 was headed to New York on the Northeast Corridor Friday when it encountered mechanical problems near the Portal Bridge.

NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith says the train continued on to Secaucus, where approximately 650 passengers were transferred to another train.

The incident caused delays of up to 15 minutes in and out of New York.

Smith says trains were on or close to schedule by 7:38 a.m.
