HOWELL - Police from the state county and township levels took over patrol duties in Lakewood tonight while hundreds of officers attended Patrolman Christopher Matlosz's wake in Howell.

Many citizens say they were worried about their safety and wondered who was watching over them while Lakewood police officers paid their respects.

In order to fill any gaps, officers from Brick and Toms River stepped in to aid the Lakewood force, while state police and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department provided additional support.
