The Department of Environmental Protection wants the site owner of a former northern New Jersey chemical factory to investigate if a known contaminated area is

WANAQUE - The Department of Environmental Protection wants the site owner of a former northern New Jersey chemical factory to investigate if a known contaminated area is spreading.

The DEP is ordering site owner, Haskell Properties LLC, to conduct testing in homes that sit near former chemical factory. PCE and TCE, both known carcinogens, have been found in the area.

A formal plan is expected within the next few months.
