LONG BRANCH - An attempted murder suspect who allegedly barricaded himself inside a Long Branch home for hours Wednesday was apparently on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's radar for more than a decade.

Denismar Andrade, 26, a Brazilian native, is being held at the Monmouth County Jail and could be deported.

An immigration official says that Andrade has had an ICE detainer since 2006.  This means that the agency has formally requested local law enforcement to release him into their custody because he is eligible for deportation.

ICE says that Andrade has a long criminal history dating back to 2010. He was arrested on domestic violence charges in 2010 and drug charges in 2016.

Andrade is now accused of attempted murder and robbery after allegedly stabbing two people in the neck Saturday night. Authorities tracked him down to a stranger's home on Ludlow Street in Long Branch Wednesday.

“He actually tried to conceal himself within the wall with food and water,” says Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Grammicioni. “The team did a great job of bringing him out of there without any incident.”

The prosecutor would not comment on Andrade’s ICE detainer but did say that if his department received a request for assistance for some operation that's ongoing in the county, the office would comply.

“But it’s not our responsibility to carry out immigration actions,” Grammicioni added. “That’s really a federal government responsibility.”

The two people allegedly stabbed by Andrade were treated and released from the hospital.
