TRENTON - New Jersey Democrats have a warning for Gov. Chris Christie's department heads: show up for our hearings, or we'll force you to.

Today, an Assembly committee voted to give itself subpoena power.

Democrats say they're tired of getting the run around from the state treasurer, who has declined to appear at several recent hearings on subjects including contract spending related to Sandy.

To become official, the full Assembly has to approve the subpoena authority.
