Defense lawyers ask for more info in Tyler Clementi case

Lawyers for the former Rutgers University student accused of using a webcam to spy on his roommate's sexual encounter with another man were back in

NEW BRUNSWICK - Lawyers for the former Rutgers University student accused of using a webcam to spy on his roommate's sexual encounter with another man were back in court today.

Dharun Ravi faces charges of invasion of privacy and bias intimidation for allegedly spying on 18-year-old roommate Tyler Clementi in their freshman dorm room in September 2010. Clementi committed suicide days later by jumping off the George Washington Bridge.

Defense attorney Steve Altman told the judge he is seeking information from the prosecution regarding the case. "We've asked for a list of the names of all the individuals who lived in Davidson Hall, the dormitory where all of this took place," Altman said.

Altman also said he requested police reports, forensic computer files from Clementi's computer, and the identity of the man involved in the encounter with Clementi.

The judge scheduled the next hearing for Sept. 9.
