MONTVILLE - Officials in Montville are asking state police to investigate after dozens of deer carcasses were found near Route 287.

Montville residents say the remains have been showing up for months without explanation. Resident Jim Vaccaro says that deer are common, but he can't fathom why someone would collect deer carcasses and drop them in one place.

Pequannock's Township Manager David Holberg says his locality isn't responsible for cleaning up the remains. He says the Department of Transportation has taken them.
