NEWARK - The Dalai Lama is in Newark for a three-day peace summit.

The Newark Peace Education Summit's major events are being held at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center throughout the weekend. Organizers hope the summit will be a starting point to combat bloodshed in the city.

"I think there will be people that will have an impact. I believe the conversation will start in the Performing Arts Center and then that conversation will continue out onto the streets," says Drew Katz, a summit organizer.

The Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader is being joined by Nobel laureates, international leaders and some Hollywood celebrities. Some events will also be held at the Newark Museum and the Robert Treat Hotel
