NORTH PLAINFIELD - Customers of a North Plainfield dry cleaner may finally get their clothing soon, according to a federal bankruptcy trustee.

"Any Garment $1.99 Cleaners" on Route 22 has not been open for several days. Dozens of customers showed up yesterday morning to retrieve their garments and were greeted by a “for lease” sign.

Barry Scherer, the bankruptcy trustee appointed to the case, told News 12 New Jersey today that the store filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy back in June. The filing was converted to Chapter 7 last week, which meant the store was in liquidation and had to close.

Scherer says customers can expect to retrieve their clothing on Thursday between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
